Ms. Anna Thomas is from Oregon, USA. Ms. Thomas is in her 12th year of professional teaching which includes four years of international teaching, two of which have been in China. Ms. Thomas earned her Master degree in Education from Concordia University, a second Master degree in Teaching from University of Illinois at Chicago, and her Bachelor degree in Psychology and Sociology from Portland State University. Ms. Thomas is certified to teach grades K-9 in the US, with an emphasis on English as an Additional Language. Ms. Thomas is currently completing research for her Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership. Ms. Thomas is an experienced accreditation team member, has been a featured presenter at National Council for Teachers of Mathematics conferences in the United States, and has served as head curriculum developer for a province in South Korea.
Mrs. Anh Hanson has worked as a primary school teacher at an IB international school for more than 9 years. She holds Bachelor of Arts in Education (Primary Pedagogy), Bachelor of Arts in Education (Secondary Pedagogy) and an English Teaching License. She has extensive training and experience in IB philosophy and curriculum, as well as inquiry-based learning and methodology, including workshops such as the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) in English Category 2 training, Making the PYP Happen in School training, and PYP In-School workshops, all conducted by experienced practitioners of the IB such as ACG and AIS International Schools in Ho Chi Minh City and the IB Global Centre in Singapore.

Ms. Pickles comes to us from England with 4 years teaching experience, and is presently a 1st grade teacher at KWA. She studied at Edge Hill University, earning a first-class Bachelor (Honors) Degree in Early Years Education with Qualified Teacher Status. Her degree studies focused specifically on how children in grades K-2 learn best. After her studies, Ms. Pickles taught 1st grade in England for 2 years and served as subject leader for RE and PSHE as well as the School Council leader. Ms. Pickles also taught 1st grade at an international primary school in Dubai.
Mr. Hatcher is a 4th grade homeroom teacher at KWA. He is originally from Vancouver, Canada, and completed his studies at Concordia University in Montreal. In college, his main area of study was Eastern Religion with a minor in Philosophy. Mr. Hatcher spent four years living and teaching in South Korea as an ESL teacher. He taught elementary and middle school students in Seoul and later taught in Ulsan. He was a substitute in Boise, Idaho, for grades 1 through 12 where he taught a wide range of subjects.
Mrs. Hatcher is a native of San Diego, California. Mrs. Hatcher graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor Degree in Political Science, and is an active member of the USC Alumni group in Beijing. Mrs. Hatcher taught ESL to primary students in Seoul and Ulsan, South Korea, for 5 years before moving to China. She received her teaching credential in primary and middle school from the American Board. One of Mrs. Hatcher’s hobbies is playing trumpet with the Kaiwen Academy orchestra.
Mr. Yates is a 3rd grade homeroom teacher at KWA. He comes to us from Wrea Green, England. Mr. Yates graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University’s Business School and brings experience in both management and international teaching. Mr. Yates obtained his teaching qualification in 2013 and is now entering his 4th year of teaching in China. Having previously taught homeroom in Ningbo’s bilingual kindergarten, Harlowbaby, and serving on staff at Qingdao Foreign Language School, Mr. Yates joined KWA staff in 2016.
Mr. Morrissey holds a Master Degree in TESOL from Sheffield Hallam University. He has a wealth of teaching experience in varying educational contexts, with a broad demographic of learners. He worked as an English teacher in bilingual schools in Bangkok, Thailand and received professional training in creative thinking and critical thinking. Also, he worked in an international kindergarten and introduced new-to-the-school English literacy initiatives.
Ms. Alise Brooks has been teaching Primary school in the US for 18 years, and is a two-time National Board Certified Teacher. In 2017 she was added to the Congressional Record as a Teacher of Distinction and received a Certificate of Congressional Recognition. She holds teaching certifications in K-3 Primary Education, and in ESOL. Ms. Brooks earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Education, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, and a Master of Education degree. Ms. Brooks has served as a lead teacher and teacher trainer and coach for Primary level Math and Language Arts curricula.
Ms. Brown earned a Specialist degree in Education, a Master of Education degree, a second Master degree in Public Administration, and a Bachelor degree in Social Work all in the US. Ms. Brown is certified in Primary School, and has taught Primary school for six years. She received 2016-17 Teacher of the Year honors in her school district. Ms. Brown has served as Primary School Department Chair, and is experienced in formative assessment data analysis to increase student access to the curriculum. Ms. Brown has also served as the president of the parent teacher association.
Lee Ann Holman/USA
Lee Ann Holman brings eight years of teaching experience, specializing in bilingual immersion education and second language learners at all levels of Primary and Secondary school. Ms. Holman earned a Bachelor degree in Spanish, a second Bachelor degree in Journalism, and a Master degree in Education, all in the US. Ms. Holman is a certified teacher in Elementary, Bilingual, and Spanish Education. She taught for four years at a dual-language school in Austin, Texas, and served as department head and teacher manager. Ms. Holman taught at the International School of Paris as well as at a local high school, also in Paris.
Ms. Julia Branch earned a Bachelor degree and teaching certification in Education and Computer Information Systems in the US. Ms. Branch has 12 years of experience teaching ELA, Math, Science, and History for Primary and Middle School students in the US and Thailand. She has extensive experience in curriculum development and ESL teaching methodologies.

Ms. Tracy Thyssen has taught Primary School for the past 4 years. She earned a Bachelor of Education degree at the University of Fort hare in East London, specializing in teaching grades K-3. She holds additional training credentials in Primary School Science and Math, and is experienced in teaching students who are studying English as a Second Language. She is also an experienced children's radio format broadcasting host.
